Parcours

We went to some fabulous local lakes on a particularly hot day recently, and not only did we have fun swimming and digging on the beach, but there was also a brilliant parcours course that all the kids could go on. It was particularly well designed because even small kids like Zoe could go on it alone as there was no clipping or unclipping required - the safety harness went round the trees. It finished with a really long zip line which was particularly exciting.
Then just this week, we went to the local adventure park in Chamonix for yet another parcours course (clearly a popular activity for French kids, or maybe just in this climbing-obsessed region. Start'em young.) This time Zoe was only allowed on the 'mini' course, which was about a foot off the ground and very tame after her first experience, BUT she did have to clip and unclip on this one, and we spent a couple of very happy hours going back and forth on all the routes while she very dextrously clipped and unclipped herself. Meanwhile, the girls with Toby were on the big route, with some really big zip lines and a particularly hairy 'Tarzan swing' that sent you hurtling into a big rope ladder.
School starts on Monday (bought their school supplies today!) so this is the last hurrah of their summer holidays. We're trying to make the most of it. Although did I mention that there is no school on Wednesdays in France? Yup, it's a four-day week (start as you mean to go on, I guess), and the school is only slightly longer than at home. I'm very curious to see how much gets packed into an average school day...

Anna, harnessed up and ready to go...

Indra was a natural, and completely unafraid.

Zoe: "I love this SO MUCH'

Ready for the mini-parcours - thankfully not disappointed to be only a foot off the ground on this go.

Clipping and unclipping like a pro - and still stylin' in a skirt.

That's Indie on the rope bridge.

Little figures up the tree: my 7- and 6-year-old fearless girls (and their very supportive Dad).
