Last Sunday there was a Run & Skate race in Chamonix - an 18k skate x-country ski leg followed by a 12km running leg - and a bunch of friends entered as 'teams', with one doing the skate, and one doing the ski.
Toby was in a team with his friend Tim Tweedy - 'The Moldys' - and Pete entered with a Scottish friend Gordon - 'Hot Porridge' - and Lesley entered with Tim's wife, MC.
The conditions were so fast - and obviously Pete and Toby were so fit (I was asked to put that in: ed) - that they whizzed round far quicker than expected, and poor Tim wasn't even at the finish for the handover. He was just arriving and so had to very quickly disrobe as Toby called for him to 'tag' him. It was a cold and early start, but the kids and I went down to cheer them on and after they triumphed (read: finished) we all went back to Pete and Les's for pizza on their deck and a hot tub in the warm sunshine for the kids. Sunday - Chamonix-style.
