Fire and Ice Party

Happy New Year everyone!

2012 is already starting to feel old, so clearly I'm a little behind in my updates, but here's what we did for New Year's celebrations this year.
We didn't go out on the night itself (babysitting is exorbitantly expensive at the best of times here at 10 euros an hour, but on New Year's Eve that went up to 20 to 30 euros an hour! For sitting and watching TV! I seriously considered renting myself out...oh, and we didn't actually get any invitations to go out either) and stayed in with the girls instead for dinner and a movie. I made shrimp cocktails followed by raclette (very low fat), the girls tasted their first champagne (they preferred their Orangina), and we watched a Harry Potter movie until almost 10pm! Such excitement. We all loved it.
But then on January 1st we hosted an outside 'Fire and Ice' party for all our friends and their kids. It was from 4-7pm (apres-ski), and Toby and the girls built an ice bar outside to serve the hot chocolate and mulled wine, and Toby built a great campfire in the snow. About 20 kids spent their time making a huge snow fort and then ambushed the adults with a snowball fight, and much fun was had by all. A great way to start our new year in Chamonix...

Can you spot Toby? Very proud to be a Habs fan.
