Christmas Hols Part II

Christmas was bliss with Toby's family in Suffolk. We missed home, of course, and my family, but it was a rare treat to spend special time with Toby's sisters and cousins. We barely saw the girls - they were absorbed into the 'pack' of children who just roamed around freely. Who knows what they ate for the 5 days we were there - food was put on the table, but it was a very long table, and I was too busy enjoying myself up the other end. Here are some highlights:

One of the many meals

The spill-over kids' table

Making mince pies with cousin Ruby!

Indie, hard at work

Zoe, hard at play

Christmas prep

Now THAT'S a tree

Lots of fun was had outside - including tractor rides

Anna in the tractor

Going to visit the tree planted in memory of Toby's mum, Julie

Anna decorating the memorial tree with auntie Sophie

Zoe rocking the tights'n'welly boots look

Group walk

View of the estuary

Helping Amir clear some trees

An outing in Uncle Mike's launch

What a sky

Cousin Hana taking good care of the girls

Indie was fascinated by the water

Anna

Indie, just before landing. Poor thing - she was the first off the boat onto the pontoon, which was still a few feet from shore. We thought it was very shallow and so she could wade ashore, but after her second step she disappeared from view, completely underwater! She popped up quickly, laughing, finding the whole thing hilarious. Which was lucky, because it was effing cold and a long walk home. But she was incredibly stoic about the whole thing - I love that about Indie, she will constantly surprise you...

Christmas Eve drinks and carols at the neighbours (our host is a concert pianist, so the carols were of a particularly high quality)

Stockings in bed on Christmas morning - 'there were 10 on the bed...'

Ruby (and Indie, hidden by her bulging stocking)

 Anna's new love: Garfield

Crazy pile of presents under the tree, and some impatient elves

Cousin Joel was Santa

But I think Toby knows his role next year, given his new PJs

Getting ready for Christmas lunch

The table

 Christmas crackers

Not one, but two blazing Christmas puddings
