Skiing on a Glacier

It really IS the last of the ski season now, but the snow conditions are still great. Anna had said to Toby that she really wanted to experience skiing on a glacier, so on Friday morning (yes - she played hooky from school, but it was worth it) Toby took her to Grand Montets with his old friend Chris and they skied the glacier. It was very exciting - Anna had to wear a harness and Toby carried a rope in case she fell in a crevasse. But really, it's like skiing on a piste, so many people ski it. The conditions were incredible, and they had 'le grand bleu' - blue skies and sunshine. Hard to believe this was the 4th of May!
Maybe it's because my mother and I have become hooked on the UK documentary series 'One Born Every Minute' while she's been here - a fly-on-the-wall series in maternity hospitals in the UK that basically just shows birth stories - that I look at these pictures and can't believe that Anna is already 8 years old, and starting on the adventures with her dad that Toby has been looking forward to since her birth. She's such a big girl now, and is really a fearless little skier.
The days are long but the years are short...
But I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Toby, raring to go
